This handy little tool will help you to be able to find your way out of the wilderness, and call for help if you need to.
Things You Need For an Outdoor Survival Kit
There are many items that you will need to pack for a really good survival kit. If you spend a lot of time in the wilderness, it is probably a good idea to have a survival kit ready to go at all times, so you can go hiking or camping whenever the mood suits you, and you will be ready for anything.
Some of the things that you will need to include in your survival kit, in addition to a good quality compass whistle, include:
• A good knife – You should always have a good quality hunting knife with you when you are going to be in the wilderness, whether or not you are hunting or fishing. You never know when a sharp knife is going to come in handy, such as when you need to make your way through thick brush, or if you just want to cut a sandwich in half.
• A change of clothing – Your survival kit should contain a change of warm clothing. If you get lost in the wilderness, this is going to come in really handy.
• Food – If you get lost in the woods, chances are that there is going to be nothing for you to eat. This can be a really bad thing, especially if you are lost for a few days. You should always carry some food in your pack. Make sure that it is lightweight and easy to carry. Items such as beef jerky and candy are ideal to have.
• Water – You must make sure that you do not get dehydrated, and if you are lost in the wilderness, you may not be able to find drinking water that is healthy. Have a bottle of water in your survival kit, and refill it whenever you are heading out into the wilderness.
• Tools – You will need various tools. In order to start a campfire or signal fire, you will need a source of flame. Your survival kit should include waterproof matches and the original box with the striker, and a flint, so if the matches do not work, you can use the flint and your knife to create sparks and start a fire.
When you have a whistle and the above items in your survival kit, you will be ready for pretty much anything that Mother Nature has to throw at you. Always be prepared, and when you get your compass whistle, make sure that you know how to use the compass.
